Four Tricky Two Way Puzzles

Three additional brain teasers for the puzzle are shown below.

A "hinged" dissection is one in which imaginary hinges can be placed at selected points of the dissection such that one design can turn into the other by swinging the pieces on these imaginary hinges. On of the four dissections in the set is a hinged dissection. Can you figure out which one?



Using all of the pieces from one of the four puzzles, construct this bird figure:




Since all four puzzles form a square with the same area, the equilateral triangle, pentagon, hexagon, and octagon must all have the same area as well. Use a ruler to measure the perimeter of each of these four regular polygons. You should find that the triangle has the largest perimeter, followed by the pentagon, the hexagon, and finally the octagon. By thinking about continuing this progression, figure out what shape would have the smallest possible perimeter for a given area.
